What Makes You Happy?

That is a strange way to enter a budgeting discussion, but I think that is the most important question you can answer before going too deep into your discussion.

This website will provide tools and different ideas to help you with your personal budget. I do not give financial advice — that is what paid financial advisors are for. What I hope to do is to help you think through some unique concepts about budgeting.

Assumptions

Before you go too deep, let’s go through a few assumptions:

• You Do Not Want to Stress About Money — So many people live their lives stressed out about money. I believe that you can solve this problem with some creative and disciplined thinking.
• You Want to Be Happy — The older I get, the more important I believe it is to focus on being happy, having a sense of purpose, and being fulfilled, rather than being wealthy. If you are able to do both, then more power to you! You are somewhat unique in this world, as many wealthy people are not very happy.
• You Have an Ability to Earn Income — In most cases, this is a job, but if you are blessed and/or older, this might be retirement savings.
